Dear Players,

Congratulations on making the 2009 Boys Soccer Team. The practice and game schedule is on the webpage. If you will be late to a practice, game or need to skip a practice or game you must inform me in E-03, through a note in my box in the front office or via email at barozbj@pwcs.edu prior to the practice or game.

Please advise your parents and anyone that plans on watching the games that the game start times of 4:45 PM are approximate. There is a 30 minute window on both side of the posted game times. Field Take Down is a team function and duty. Players are assigned to Field Take Down, if you skip take down you do not play in the next two games. At away games players will rotate coming back on the bus with the team gear and then putting the team gear in to the storage room.

School work and studies are your priority! Failure to do complete school work, arriving tardy to class or failing to obey classroom and/or school rules will result in a verbal warning and reduced play time, completing missed work on the bench during practices and games and finally dismissal from the team. SOL Review classes take precedence over practices and Team Study Hall.

Don’t forget that you will have to dress up for the Pep Rally on Friday, October 2, 2009 and on game days. The first time you do not dress up you will not play in at least ½ a game, any further failure to dress outs will prevent you from attending the game scheduled on that day.

Play time! All players will not play every game. Play time is earned at practice and by performing well on the field during games. For many players this will be the first time you are playing up age wise, WAGS, ODSL, Challenge, and House all play under a given age. Some of you still play with a size 4 balls and middle school like high school uses size 5. The Middle School Standings are based on 3 points for a win, 1 for a tie and 0 for a loss. First tie breaker is head to head results.

Study Hall is held in E-03 on game days. Players report to Study Hall when athletes are dismissed. Study Hall is your time to do HW, Study and or read. Players should plan on bringing a snack and drink, (NOT SODA). Take advantage of study hall and do your work so you are not stressing your parents after a game and your still have another practice or family event.

Your game kit, uniform, shin guard, cleats, socks are your responsibility not your parents. If you are missing uniforms pieces you are sending a message that you do not want to play soccer at this level. You should bring your practice and game items daily! If a practice or game is cancelled an announcement will be made at the end of the day.

Finally, practice normally ends between 4:40 and 4:50. If your ride is not here you WILL GET on the Activity Bus. Failure to do so will result in your being dropped from the team. At away games you must be signed out by a parent. If you are going home with another person I need a note prior to the game day, and they must sign you out. If you leave an away game without being signed out you will not attend the next away game. A second time will result in dismissal from the team. Players returning to school on the Activity bus should be aware that the bus will not leave the game site until the completion of the Girls Volleyball game. Players are “ENCOURAGED” to “CARPOOL”. Any players coming back on the bus must have their rides here at Saunders. Traffic is an issue in this county, so please ensure your parents allow plenty of travel time.

New this year is a grade sheet print out. Every Tuesday players must bring a current grade print out as shown in EDUlink. We are trying to stress the importance of school work and its importance. Some young men tend to lose focus in class during sports while others have their GPA soar.

Parent note, this was all covered at the team meeting and dressing up, grade sheets, game times, study hall, the schedule, set up and take down were reviewed at practice on Monday, September 28, 2009.

Sincerely,
